Reiki   (ray- key)

Rei = "Universal Spiritual Wisdom"

Ki = "Life Force Energy" - Chi/Prana

The Esoteric meaning accurately interpreted means> " Higher Knowledge" or "Spiritual Consciousness"  This is the wisdom that comes from God, or the Higher Self and is the God-consciousness which is all-knowing and all pervasive.

When Reiki entered the field of conventional medicine - they changed the name to "Therapeutic Touch" so that it would be more widely received as a scientific modality instead of a Spiritual One.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of "hands on healing" that induces relaxation and promotes healing. The act of laying hands on the human or animal body to comfort or relieve pain is a natural instinct. When experiencing pain or discomfort, the first thing people do is put their hands on it. When a child falls down and gets hurt, the first thing they want their mother to do is "touch it." This simple act is the basis of all "touch" healing techniques.

The "living" body, human or animal, radiates warmth, energy & has an animating force. This energy is called the life force itself - the unseen force that gives life to material objects. This life force has many names, and is fluent in every human civilization around the world and throughout history. Some of the more common names are: Mana; Chi; Prana; Orenda; Ruach; Barraka; Ki; animal magnetism; and bioplasma. It is the Japanese word for the energy called Ki that Reiki is named.

What is Life-Force Energy?

Ki, can be defined as; energy, air, breath, wind, vital breath, vital essence . . . the activating energy of the Universe. Chi is referred to as the movement of energy through the body, creating the body & determines the state of health of the body. When Ki departs - life departs.

Chi or Ki - is the essential Life Force of the Earth, the Universe & the Heavens - these sources of energy effect the living bodies Ki. Everything alive contains & radiates Ki - it is the biomagnetic energy of the aura.

What are the Benefits of Reiki?

Hands on healing provides a circuit for the energy to flow at a greater rate. It releases blocks in the energy flow of the body, often releasing emotions embedded in the bodies energy system - commonly referred to as imprinted energetic patterning.  It brings life force energy to the parts of the body that are in need of healing. This energy is directed by divine intention and does not require direction or diagnosis by the practitioner. It alleviates pain, and some physical symptoms associated with emotions stored in the body.

  • It releases emotions - which come naturally & automatically.

  • It creates a feeling of lightness - weightlessness.

  • Sense of calm inner peace.

  • Brings about subtle changes in physiology - such as the absence of pain or discomfort, ease of movement, and a feeling of relaxation & reduced tension.

  • often people feel "happier" or as though they have released tension in their body.

  • Each response is unique to the individual and varies considerably.

What is a Reiki Session Like?

All healing is self-healing. Self-healing is facilitated by a Reiki practitioner & is known as directed healing.

After a brief discussion and interview process, the recipient lays out, fully clothed on a massage table, in a relaxing and private environment, with perhaps soothing music playing, or the sound of running water (silence if preferred), the Reiki practitioner places their hands directly on the recipient.

The Reiki practitioner - balances, clears and "runs" their own energy - Inducing the proper state-of-mind, increasing and generating intensity - then through a series of hand placements on the body of the recipient, or sweeping motions, makes connections to different parts of the body. Much like a circuit, once connected, energy easily & readily flows through one person and into another, clearing any blocks, excesses or deficiencies - attuning and balancing the energy flow through the body. This releases emotions stored in the body at a cellular level, releasing trauma, tension, energized beliefs - and allows release  & increased flow into and through the area.

Nothing is required by the recipient, just a state of relaxation, openness to the experience & trusting the process.

How long does it take to experience Results?

Benefits come immediately even with only one treatment. You'll experience results as soon as the clearing and balancing takes place - energy work, like working with the unconscious mind has a subtle feeling because your not always "aware" of it. Often times no "thinking process" accompanies it. You may go along, not really thinking about it, then suddenly a week later, realize that your knee hasn't hurt all week, or that you don't seem anxious anymore, or perhaps haven't felt frustrated all week.

How it shows up varies according to the individual. Many physical symptoms are emotionally based, stem out of our beliefs, or result from habitual behavior in which we are unaware. Often the results have subtle effects on our physiology, how we have trained our body to respond, or habitual patterning due to work - so results of painful knees may be experienced as not feeling afraid of moving forward in life and making crucial decisions that may involve risk - which brings a feeling of peace & suddenly you realize your knees don't hurt.

How many sessions should I have?

This is based on individual needs and preferences. More serious problems that involve physical symptoms may require a series of sessions over a period of time.

If the bodies energy system is being effected by emotions, beliefs, lifestyle & the external environment, and has developed chronic habitual patterns - often like hypnosis or chiropractic care - will require several sessions to retrain the body or release blockages in layers.

Healing is like peeling an onion - you heal one aspect and it allows another to surface. You may start off working on one area and evolve into all areas that arise out of the initial healing.

Why is Reiki so powerful?

Because it deals with the initial "cause" it tends to work at a fundamental level. Reiki does not require diagnosis, the opinion of someone else - no one has to figure out what's wrong with you - so it does not introduce suggestion or violate free will. The body knows what it needs for healing, just like the unconscious mind knows exactly how to heal the body. it does not require instruction from the conscious mind in order to do this. In fact, involvement by the conscious mind can greatly interfere with the healing process, often preventing it.

Reiki does not reflect the belief system of the practitioner, but rather the belief system and unconscious awareness of the recipient. Because of this - it heals perfectly according to the individuals needs.

All life force, divine energy, has an intelligence of it's own that is far beyond human knowledge. The energy once direction only with intention - will do the healing necessary & do it perfectly.

Reiki allows people to maintain more control over their health and sense of well-being, often avoiding the high cost, inhumane and often invasive methods of the traditional medical system. Reiki is not intended to replace traditional medicine, but in many cases it can do things that medicine can't do, and do them much more positively, naturally and congruently. Reiki is complimentary to all other forms of medicine. In hospitals around the country, "Healing Touch" is being used right along with conventional practices and is considered a valuable healing resource that is widely accepted by medical doctors and Health Practitioners from all walks of life.

Is Reiki a Religion?

Reiki is older than religion and remains true to Eastern Philosophy. Reiki transcends religion & is based on the Life Force which is the essence of life itself, regardless of religion. Reiki comes from a culture that has given the West virtually all of it's Metaphysical techniques as well as most of our ethics. The healing techniques performed by Jesus is an example of the originating forms of touch/hands-on energetic healing which is governed by intention and the beliefs of the recipient.

Mahayana Buddhism and it's Vajrayana outgrowth developed and enhanced the skills of meditation, visualization, ritual, spiritual and herbal healing, dream work, conscious dying, sexual healing with respect for women, past life regression, every sort of psychic development and ability, and much more.

Reiki & Hypnosis -

Holistic approach to healing Mind/Body

I have developed a technique which combines Reiki and Hypnosis for a powerful experience of healing, releasing emotions from the body, and addressing limiting beliefs that inhibit healing or support detrimental habitual mental states that promote and sustain illness. Emotions become imprinted in our bodies in the form of energetic patterning, or how we "hold" energy in our bodies. This is easy to recognize as anytime you are being "triggered" with a strong emotional response to something or someone's behavior- it originates as an experience inside your body - that "feeling" contains a memory which gives meaning to the experience - that then rises to the surface and become acted out in the present moment - re-creating a similar experience with a similar meaning. To effectively release trauma and emotional patterning from the "whole system" requires both conscious and unconscious processing and release. This is easily done when working at the unconscious & body level. The unconscious mind resides "in the body" - as the body - and governs all bodily functioning. The unconscious mind is the emotional, intuitive and creative aspect which produces physical symptoms that correspond to vibratory quality of energy - we commonly call emotions. A belief, empowered by emotion - forms a physical reality. By working with the unconscious, and the energy force of the body we can completely release any form of influence or emotional effect being expressed through the body.
